Mari Matilda Grøsland

What country are you from?
Norway
What drew you to the MEV and what excites you about living in this community?
What initially drew me to the Modern Eco Village was the climate. My partner and I had already decided that we wanted to move to Spain within a five-year horizon. When I came across MEV on Instagram, it immediately felt like something that could suit us very well — especially because it offers a sense of community, which made me feel that we wouldn’t feel as lonely as we might in a more traditional setting.
I am deeply interested in health, physical activity, mental well-being, and nourishing food, and I am very drawn to a lifestyle that is sustainable in every sense of the word. I am seeking a life with more balance, harmony, and less stress, and I truly feel that MEV aligns perfectly with these values.
What excites me the most is the opportunity to live among neighbors with a similar mindset and shared values, and to be part of a community that supports a slower, more conscious pace of life. The idea of building meaningful connections while living closer to nature and well-being feels both inspiring and deeply fulfilling to me.
Who are you as a person? (personality, values, etc.)
I am a driven and dedicated person who works hard toward the goals I set for myself. I value growth, responsibility, and following through on what I believe in.
I am naturally introverted and recharge best through time alone, reflection, and calm surroundings. Meaningful and deep connections matter much more to me than large social settings, and I value honesty, trust, and emotional depth in the relationships I build.
Health and well-being are central values in my life — both physical and mental. I strive to live consciously, take care of myself and others, and create a life that feels balanced and grounded. I am curious, open-minded, and reflective, and I enjoy learning, growing, and evolving as a person.
Overall, I see myself as someone who is warm, reliable, and intentional in how I live — seeking a life with purpose, connection, and harmony.
Tell us about yourself and/or your family—your interests, hobbies, occupation, and passions.
I currently live just outside Oslo, Norway, together with my partner. We do not have children yet, but we share our home with our small Chihuahua, who is very much part of our family. We both love spending time in nature and enjoy walking together in forests and natural surroundings.
At the moment, I work freelance as an operating room nurse, while my partner and I are also building a company together. We are still in the early startup phase, and much of our time and energy goes into developing a solid foundation for the business. In addition to this, I am currently training to become a coach for people with ADHD, a path that reflects my strong interest in mental health, self-development, and supporting others.
Having multiple professional paths is important to me, as it allows for flexibility and long-term sustainability. I have wanted to create a geographically independent lifestyle for many years, and I see this as an important step toward a more balanced, intentional, and fulfilling way of living.
What will be your role in the community? (e.g., sustainability projects, community gatherings, permaculture, holistic wellness, creative workshops, education, etc.)
I believe I would enjoy taking responsibility for community gatherings. Bringing people together in relaxed, informal settings and I value the importance of social connection in creating a strong and supportive community.
What does your dream community look like? Dream day in the MEV?
A dream day in the MEV for me would begin early in the morning, waking up in a calm and peaceful environment. I would start the day with a good cup of coffee, enjoying the quiet and the natural surroundings.
Afterwards, I would go for a walk with my partner and our dog down to the lake, perhaps taking a refreshing swim and starting the day feeling connected to nature. Later, I imagine enjoying a nourishing lunch outdoors on the balcony, taking time to relax and be present.
During the afternoon or early evening, I would take part in a social activity within the MEV — something that brings people together in a relaxed and meaningful way. As the day winds down, I would love to prepare a good dinner, enjoy a glass of red wine, and watch the sunset, feeling grateful for the sense of community, balance, and harmony around me.
