What country are you from?
I live in Lage Zwaluwe, a village in the South of the Netherlands
What drew you to the MEV and what excites you about living in this community?
A “slow life” in nature has always appealed to me. Next to values that are important to me like sustainability and self-sufficiency, I do like a bit of luxury. I see these coming together in the MEV. Being surrounded by like-minded people seems like a beautiful prospect to me. And let’s not forget the location, looking over a beautiful valley in Spain.
Who are you as a person? (personality, values, etc.)
I am a positive minded person who can enjoy the very little things nature has to offer. Always up for a good laugh.
Tell us about yourself and/or your family—your interests, hobbies, occupation, and passions.
I am a passionate gardener. As soon as the climate warms up in the Netherlands, I start seeding vegetables and flowers. Me and my family very much like our own lettuces, cucumbers, but most of all the home-grown tomatoes.
In winter I do a lot of DIY in and around the house, both my daughters have desks and cabinets I built myself. Meanwhile I have quite a collection of tools that I want to bring to the MEV.
What will be your role in the community? (e.g., sustainability projects, community gatherings, permaculture, holistic wellness, creative workshops, education, etc.)
It would be great to be a member of the gardening team.
What does your dream community look like? Dream day in the MEV?
Before I start working (remote) I start up slowly with a walk around town, to the lake, see and hear nature wake up.
Then work and have a long lunch, take care of some smaller gardening jobs and work the second part of the day. Have another look at the gardens to see what jobs need my attention and back home or the shared kitchens to enjoy dinner.
After that enjoy the evening That could vary from listening music or a reading a book, watch some Netflix with Petra or it could be hanging out with my new made friends, watch a football game, play chess or just drink and talk.
