Major price increase before December 2026 💸
“For those of you who have reserved before December 2026, you’ve done great and have gotten an amazing deal” - Iancu, founder of the MEV
Hi everyone 🌞
This is Alisa, from the MEV team: I have sat in a meeting today with Iancu, one of our founders, and this is what he said about the members who joined us so far. It really made me think about how much has changed since we started, and why I wanted to share a little of what's been happening behind the scenes with you. Because a price increase is not just a number here, there is a whole story behind it, and I want to share it with you.
I've been part of the MEV from almost the very beginning and it's been quite the journey so far. Looking back, it's amazing to see how much has changed over the years. We've learned a loooot, made plans, changed those plans again, overcome challenges and found new ways to bring the MEV closer to reality against all odds. Sometimes I still go back and watch some of the very first MEV livestreams on YouTube. I found the project almost three years ago, and it's so encouraging to look back at those early days and see how far we've come. But you know what makes me the happiest when I see these early livestreams? The most important thing hasn't changed at all. The vision is still the same. ✨
We still believe that there is another way to live. A way that brings us closer to nature, closer to each other, and closer to a healthier and more connected way of life. And the more time I've spent working on the MEV, the more I believe in that vision. But turning a vision like this into something real also means making difficult decisions along the way. In the last months we’ve been faced a lot with the challenge of how we can protect this vision. What do we protect when costs go up? 📈 The uncomfortable reality is that material and labour costs in construction have gone through the roof in Europe and most other parts of the world in the last year. So over the past months, we've been going through the numbers again and again. We've been looking at our calculations, working through the updated quotes from suppliers and construction companies, and adjusting our budgets. But like so many other projects, we've had to face the reality that building the MEV will cost a lot more than we originally planned because of the current geopolitical situation.
And honestly, it's not an easy thing to work through. Because on one hand, we want the MEV to be as accessible as possible. We want more people to have the opportunity to experience this way of living, and we don't want the dream to become something that only a few people can afford.
But on the other hand, we have to ask ourselves: what is the point of building the MEV if we compromise on the very things that make it special? Do we lower the standard of the homes? Do we cut back on the sustainable features, the quality of the materials, the energy-efficient solutions, or the communal areas and gardens and infrastructure that will make life at the MEV what we want it to be? Or do we protect the vision and find another way to make it work?
For me, this is about much more than the houses themselves. It's about creating a place where we can live a little differently. Where our surroundings support our wellbeing, where we have more opportunities to connect with others, and where the choices we make about how we live can have a positive impact on our health and the environment.
After going through all of this, we've decided that we don't want to compromise on that vision. It is the one thing that all drew us into this project from the start. We want to stay true to what we set out to create, and that means adjusting our home prices to reflect the costs of delivering the quality we believe the MEV should offer. Protecting the vision but also opening a new option to join the MEV 🤲 But here's the thing: protecting the vision doesn't mean we stop looking for ways to make the MEV accessible to more people. In fact, this process has also pushed us to think more creatively about how people can become part of the community, especially with higher prices of buying a home. Not everyone wants (or can afford) to buy a home. Some may not want the financial commitment of buying, and others might simply prefer renting. We want to make room for those people, too. 😊 That's why we're working on introducing a limited number of rental homes at the MEV. At this stage, we're planning for just 15 rental options, so availability will be limited.
The idea is simple: you become a member of the MEV, pay the €15,000 membership fee, and rent a home in the village rather than purchasing one. We're still working on the rental prices, so we can't share those just yet. We'll communicate the details as soon as everything is confirmed. We know the membership fee is an important part of the decision, so we want to make sure it's clear how it works.
Just as with our home purchase options, the €15,000 membership fee is fully refundable until you choose your home and sign the rental agreement. This gives you time to explore the option and decide whether it feels right for you before making that commitment.
Once you move into your home, your €15,000 membership fee will be converted into vouchers for the internal MEV economy. These can be used for things like grocery shopping, a gym membership, meals at a restaurant and other services within the village. We want to create a local economy where more of the money we spend stays within the community and supports the people and businesses around us. So your membership doesn't simply disappear into a fee, it becomes something you can spend as you live there.
For me, this feels like keeping a good balance. We can protect the quality and the original concept of the MEV while also creating different ways for people to join us. We don't have to choose between staying true to our vision and making the MEV more accessible. We can work towards both. 🙌 So what's changing now with purchasing a home? 🏡 Our current home prices will be available until the end of November, with new starting prices coming in from December:
Townhouses: from €210,000 (+ 10% VAT) Villa Standard: from €1,100,000 (+ 10% VAT) Villa Plus: from €1,375,000 (+ 10% VAT)
If you've been thinking about joining us, I hope you'll take a look at the current options before the new prices come into effect. And if buying a home isn't the right step for you, keep an eye out for the rental opportunities we've mentioned. If you are curious about any of these opportunities to join us, reply to this email, text us on WhatsApp or book a call with me here to get the process rolling before our price increase. ☺️
After almost three years, I still get excited thinking about what the MEV will become. I know there is a lot of work ahead of us, but the reason we're doing this hasn't changed since those first livestreams. We want to create a place where people can live well, feel connected and be part of something bigger than their own home.
And I hope we'll find a way for more of you to be part of it. If this vision resonates with you, please reach out. I'm genuinely curious to meet you. ☺️
P.S.: if you want to watch some of those livestreams I talked about in the beginning, you can find them here. With love, Alisa + The MEV Team 🌸 |
